High Tech Fashion Shows

As the years progress technology follows. Top designers such as Marc Jacobs, Burberry and Oscar de la Reta have been constantly showing their new collections utilizing the newest and most innovative technology.

Alexander Wang streamed his runway show live on an electronic billboard in Times Square and will soon project a video of the spring collection onto buildings at five sites in Lower Manhattan.

Betsy Johnson live-streamed not only her runway show, but also a backstage preshow, complete with a D.J. and an announcer (betseyjohnson.com).

“I’m completely computer illiterate, but I do know the nth-degree, godsend value of streaming,” Ms. Johnson said. “Before I always felt horrible not to let people into the show.”

And a clutch of designers, including Perry Ellis, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein, are turning to facebook, where fans will be able to not only see the action unfold in real time, but also comment on looks as they come down the runway.

Welcome to the 21st century!
